With the turn of the century, many people involved in recruiting, employment and the search for new jobs began to see significant change in the methods of finding qualified candidates or targeted new jobs. The internet, which had been in its infancy only a few years before, was becoming a dynamic and necessary factor to all parties involved in recruiting. Employers, who previously relied upon expensive short-term advertising to attract candidates, were increasingly posting their jobs on the internet. Contingency Recruiters and Executive Search Consultants found they could greatly increase their efficiency by utilizing online resume databases as part of their recruiting efforts. Candidates were relieved of the time and expense of mailing out 100's of resumes by posting online. Additionally, through job boards, they were able to view and apply for many openings that they would otherwise be unaware of. For all parties, the internet has increased efficiency and reduced the time and expense of the hiring process. But the success of the major job boards has also created some problems. Several professional recruiters, who had been involved in contingency and retained recruiting in the Plastics Industry for the past 30 years, discussed this information overload. With input from plastics professionals, employers, recruiters, computer experts, and other parties in the Plastics Industry, we have designed this site to be user friendly for Plastics people, without creating an information overload.
